T-Mobile Services
The Samsung Highlight operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and is compatible with T-Mobile's UMTS/HSDPA 3G network, which operates on the 1700/2100 MHz AWS spectrum. This phone is designed to automatically connect to the best available network (3G or GSM/GPRS/EDGE) to provide faster data speeds when accessing the Web or downloading content from the T-Mobile Web2go content portal. T-Mobile is currently rolling out its 3G network, and it expects by year's end that its high-speed data network will be available in those cities where a majority of its subscribers currently use data services.
In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the via T-Mobile's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"). This high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and e-mail on the go.
While this phone is optimized for use with T-Mobile's high-speed 3G network, many of its functions will also work well on the moderate-speed EDGE network. If you plan to access the Internet extensively on your phone, 3G network coverage may serve you best.

If you understand that this is not an iphone or blackberry, then it's a great phone. Camera is surprisingly good and buy a cheap mini SD card for $10 and you have pretty much unlimited 3,0 megapix photos. Great for snapping random pictures.
Keyboard rotates with your phone as you type and touchscreen is really good (I own a ipod touch). Calendar is kinda lacking but overall a good (cheap) simple phone for calling, texting, taking quick pictures and watching short movie clips.

I got this phone to replace an LG flip phone. I made sure to read all reviews and decided to go with this. I'm very happy with all the features, I basically got the best phone around without having to pay anything for it, or sign a data plan.
But there are 2 minor problems I have with it; the Touch Screen mode turns off after 30 seconds - which is normal, and can be adjusted - but to turn it back on, you have to press the button on the right side on top and for some reason it doesn't go easy, especially if you keep it in a rubber case like I do.
The other issue I have is that you can't search your contacts by the last name, only with the first, so if you know 10 people named Joe but only 1 named Joe Namath, you would want to search by the last name.
Overall I'm very happy with it and would still recommend it to anyone who is not looking to spend for a phone like me.

Please do not think this is a rant: there really IS so much wrong with this phone.
-Very short battery life (about 5-6 hours at full charge). I end up charging my phone twice a DAY when I charged my old phone (a very cheap phone that cost me 10 dollars) once every 3 days. Another negative is that, when the phone is on low battery, it vibrates and lights up every 2 minutes...Like you'd think it would be trying to conserve battery life? I guess not this phone: that would be too OBVIOUS. Oh, and if you're on the phone with somebody and its on low battery, it WILL just vibrate right in your face. Incredibly stupid design.
-Awful touchscreen/key design. The keys on the screen are small and my thumb (which isnt that big) covers at least 2 when I press a key. This is frustrating in itself, but the most baffling part is how they put the "send" key RIGHT BELOW the "backspace" key. They are also the smallest keys in the whole keyboard. I have wasted so many text messages by sending half-finished texts because of this other incredibly stupid design.
-Pictures always come out sideways no matter what you do. This is kind of funny to me, because when you take a picture, it will come out sideways every time. When you try to turn your phone to view it normally, the phone detects that you're turning it and it FLIPS THE PICTURE AGAIN SO THAT ITS STILL SIDEWAYS. WOW.
-Miscellaneous annoyances: Phone gets very hot while its charging. Not user-friendly (I've had it for a month and I still can't change the background.) Expensive. Piece of trash.
Please do not buy this phone, PLEASE I BEG OF YOU.
